When we met Norman and Brent Calvert of Calvert Development and saw the quality and style of their homes, we knew they were the people we wanted to build our new Lake of the Ozarks home. This is the fifth home we've had built in our 43 years of marriage, so we've have some experience.

The quality and integrity of the materials and workmanship are second to none. We continue marvel about even the little things. For example, their electrician lined up all the screw head slots in a perfectly vertical position in the outlet and switch plates.

If you are, I'd like to tell you about the experience my wife and I had in trying to find one. I purchased land at the Lake of the Ozarks in 1999, and gave it to my wife as Christmas gift. I had purchased it with the thought of building a home there in the near future. I then began my search for someone to build us a home. This was a much more difficult task than I had envisioned. This wasn't the first home my wife and I had contracted to have someone build for us; it was going to be the third one.

I have been a major roofing contractor in Des Moines, Iowa for over 30 years and just as I demand that our work force provide a quality product, I also look for the same standard of quality in the products I purchase.

We had tried and tried to get someone to give us a bid on constructing a home down here, but we were getting nowhere fast. We had almost given up on the idea of having a local builder build our new home. Then when we were really becoming frustrated, our luck changed. Being a businessman myself, I know that word of mouth is sometimes the best form of advertising. And word of mouth is exactly how we finally found us a fantastic builder.

One of my friends was fishing with another fishing buddy of his and happened to mention the difficulty we were having in trying to find someone to build us a home down here. My friend asked them to give us a call if they might be interested in doing this for us. This was a turning point in our quest to find someone to build us a home.

This was where we met Brent Calvert of Calvert Construction. He not only came in and gave us a bid; he came in and built us a fabulous home and followed every step of the construction from start to finish. He was just as concerned with the quality that was going into the building of our home as if he were building a home for his own family. I can honestly say that we are 100% happy with the quality of the workmanship that went into our new home. The workmanship is of not only the highest quality, but Brent Calvert managed to create a home that was enjoyable and livable as well.

Calvert Construction is a family owned business, and they are very much like family. We count Brent and Sue Calvert and Norman and Carol Calvert as some of the best friends we have down here in the Lake of the Ozarks, and thank our very good luck in finding them. I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with our purchase of a home in Ledgestone (lot #7). The workmanship has been excellent and “punch list” small and minor. Your response has been very rapid if ever required.

In particular, your sub-contractors must be, if not the best, very near the best in the Lake Area. They are competent and totally trustworthy- a very unique and rare combination at the Lake.

This, our 4th lake home - all the others have been on Horseshoe. I was concerned about the quality “on the KC side.” I should not have been as Calvert exceeds your competition in comparable price on the St. Louis side for quality and simply does not have competition on the KC side.

We have been homeowners at the Lake of the Ozarks for the past twelve years. Five years ago, we were looking to build a new home and really liked the 5-58 road area. Soon, we had purchased a lot and had a home constructed by Calvert Development. Norman Calvert and his son Brent personally watched over all the phases of the building process. They seemed very careful in their choice of subcontractors and if some area needed changed or redone, it was completed with no hassles. We live in the Kansas City area and they made long distance building easy. If there were choices, we made them by phone or they waited until we could come back down to the lake and view the project.

We have been in this new home for four years now and have had very few post-construction problems. Those that did occur were dealt with and fixed promptly. We gladly recommend Calvert Development for construction of a new home at the Lake.
